Join us for the 2nd Annual Holy Trinity ArtSpirit Festival!
May 25 to 31, 2014
For seven days in May, Holy Trinity Anglican Church will open its doors to artists and audiences to celebrate the arts in our community. Believing creativity and spirituality are closely related, we’ve invited actors, painters, dancers, writers, filmmakers, and musicians to share their talents with all of Edmonton.
All events are Pay What You Will.
Sunday, May 25
Bach and Beyond: Organ Recital
2:00-3:00 pm, Sanctuary
Host: Dr. John Brough
Organ Scholar, Cari Astleford will perform J.S. Bach’s Concerto in D Minor (BWV 596), Maurice Duruflé’s Prélude et Fugue sur le nom d’Alain, and other works by Bach, Samuel Scheidt, Alexandre Guilmant, and Gerhard Krapf on the recently refurbished 90-year old church organ. Join us and witness an historic instrument played by a consummate performer.

ArtSpirit Opening Reception and Visual Arts Exhibition
3:00-4:00 pm, Upper Art Space
Host: Marguerite Trussler
This reception features new original art works by a local artist as well as a kick off for our second annual ArtSpirit Festival. Proceeds from Lorie Key’s “Abstractions” and Madeline’s: “Flowers for the Philippines” will support relief work in developing countries through the PWRDF and MCC respectively.

Indie/Under Cabaret

This cabaret evening of musical and dramatic performances by young independent artists under the age of 30, promises to be a discovery of new voices. Be inspired by fresh talent and join us in witnessing the energies of Edmonton’s next generation of emerging artists. Special guests include Hannah Mazurek, Gareth Gilliland, Luke Pretty, Aaron Pack, and others. Theatre License/Cash Bar.

Sound Spiritus: An Evening of Words & Music

Host: Kathy Fisher
Savour the interplay of text and music in performance with a roster of River City’s celebrated poets and musicians. Featuring former Raving Poets frontmen Mark Kozub and Mike Gravel, Tamara Carlson, Laurie MacFayden, Suite Tweet, Nancy MacKenzie, Trio Avec Brio, Roylin Picou, and other special guests. Senior’s Spring Tea and Concert

Don your best hat or fascinator, grab a donation for our jar, and join us for our annual Senior’s Strawberry Tea and Social. Musical performances will feature father/daughter duo Francis and Glynis Price accompanied by pianist extraordinaire Devin Hart.

Film Evening with Filmmakers

An evening filled with an exciting variety of films – documentaries, dramatic short films and animations – all made by award winning, local filmmakers. Be intrigued and inspired by the films and participate in an engaging Q & A with the creative teams. Filmmakers include Ava Karvonen, Norm Fassbender, Brandy Yanchyk, Shreela Chakrabartty, Geraldine Carr, Eric Spoeth, Eva Colmers, Adam Bentley, John Osborne, and Beth Wishart MacKenzie. Celtic Spirit Night

In the spirit of the ancient Celts, this evening promises everything from traditional highland dancing to the 10-piece Rock & Roll band, Celtic Fusion Illusion. Exporting Alberta Gala and Awards Night

Host: Jana Rieger, President, Canadian Authors Association (Alberta Branch)
Join us for a literary reception and readings of Alberta authors who published new works in 2013. A prize for the best book will be awarded following the readings. The juried Exporting Alberta Award supports the winner in promoting their work outside the provincial boundaries. Theatre License/Cash Bar.
