Lecture – Tolkien and God

On Wednesday, February 6 at 7:30 p.m. in Telus Centre room 236 (U of A campus, 111 Street & 87 Avenue) Professor John Bowen will be giving a lecture based on his booklet, “Tolkien and God: The Spiritual Worldview of The Lord of the Rings.” John Bowen teaches Evangelism in the Pastoral Department at Wycliffe College in the University of Toronto. John also chairs the committee which plans the annual Anglican Church Planting Conference for Canada, and advocates for fresh expressions of church in Canada. Among the books Professor Bowen has written are, The Spirituality of Narnia: The Deeper Magic of C.S. Lewis (Regent College Publishing, 2007) and Growing Up Christian: Why Young People Leave Church, Stay in Church, and (sometimes) Come Back to Church (Regent College Publishing, 2009).

John is an eloquent speaker and well worth hearing!  He will also be present for the Vital Church Planting Conference West.
