Have you ever noticed that they don't seem very anticipatory, celebratory, or even, sometimes, preparatory? Join Rev. Danielle on Zoom for four Tuesday evenings at 7pm as we read and discuss our Old and New Testament readings for Advent! All that's required is YOU and your favourite Bible - the more translations the merrier! 10:30 am: Bible Study: 1 Corinthians10:30 am: Bible Study: 1 Corinthians – Paul’s First Letter to the Church in Corinth deals with a variety of issues in the church, pertinent in both Paul’s time and ours. Participants will be asked to read a section of the letter before each session, and then discuss questions arising from the week’s selection in the group. This study will help give an appreciation for the struggles of the very earliest church, and how many of them continue to be issues 20 centuries later. 12 Wednesdays, from 10:30 to 11:30 AM, beginning September 21. Musicians (all genres), poets, comedians, artists, and whatever else is out there, are all welcome. And of course audience members. Free admission. Refreshments available. 10:00 am: Saturday Discussion Group10:00 am: Saturday Discussion Group The purpose of this discussion group is to discuss some fundamental concepts in biblical history and in church traditions with an eye to exploring their implications, especially in light of contemporary problems, priorities, and events. Coffee, tea, and snacks will be provided. The first three topics for the group are: "Following the Law: A Matter of Life and Death", "Substitutionary Atonement: How should we think about the doctrine that Jesus died for our sins and for the sin of the world?", and "Apostolic Succession". Additional topics will be determined after this. |

5:30 pm: Advent Lessons and Carols Service5:30 pm: Advent Lessons and Carols Service You are invited to join us on Sunday, November 27 at 5:30PM for an Advent Lessons and Carols service. This will be a wonderful service of music sung by the HTAC Choir paired with lessons from Scripture, focusing on the coming birth of our Saviour. Following the service we'll join together for a time of fellowship in a potluck supper in the Lower Hall. If you are able, please sign up to bring a potluck main, salad, or dessert to share. A sign up is available online HERE or a paper sign up is in the Lower Hall. We hope you'll join us for this time of Advent preparation and fellowship. |
