Seraphina is a vibrant new ensemble that specializes in Celtic, folk, and Baroque repertoire. Soprano Dawn Bailey and Celtic harpist/harpsichordist Susan Toman have been praised for their engaging manner of musical storytelling and a direct way of communicating that helps to make history come alive for their audiences. Suitable for all ages, Road to the Isles is an engaging mix of songs, instrumental music, poems, and stories. Based largely on the poetry of Robert Burns (1759-1796) and Thomas Moore (1779-1852), many of the pieces included are well-known traditional tunes from Ireland and Scotland. Others were written by English composers of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries who were inspired by Celtic folk traditions, such as John Playford, Henry Purcell, and William Byrd.
