How can you be involved as a volunteer?

- Invite your friends and neighbours – “And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard?” (Romans 10:14) Without people to attend there cannot be an Alpha. Thus we need everyone to be active in inviting their friends and neighbours to come out and hear Good News of the Kingdom of God.
- Table Host – One of the most important roles in Alpha is to be a table host. What this requires is simply being a presence at a discussion table and helping to facilitate people’s questions and observations. There will be two training sessions for those who will be table hosts at Alpha. For dates, times, and locations see the Alpha Timeline page.
- Pray for Alpha – Karl Barth said that the first and most basic theological act is prayer. All of us can be theologians by praying for Alpha. Pray for God to bring people to attend, volunteers to participate, and community to be built in Jesus’ name.
- Childcare – The audience for Alpha is likely to attract some young adults who may have children. We want to make sure the event is accessible to everyone. Please consider coming and playing with some kids while their parents learn about Christianity.
- Cooking Meals – Alpha started and continues to be centered around a shared meal. It allows for a more easy-going context in which people feel free to share their observations and questions. We are looking for a group of volunteers to provide a meal for 15-20 people. You can sign up for all the evenings or for just one. If you love to cook then consider cooking for Alpha!
- Monetary Donations – If cooking is not your thing then perhaps you would feel led to donate some money in order to subsidize meal costs, Alpha opening party and the retreat day, and other programming costs. Donations can be left at the church office or indicate ALPHA on your offering envelope. There is more than one way to feed a flock!
