Christmas Hamper Outreach

Christmas Hamper Project

Once  again this year, Holy Trinity is involved in the outreach ministry of supplying Christmas Hampers for families at King Edward School & Academy at King Edward. This year Kid’s Church is linking this ministry to the Christmas Pageant, “Gifts for a King,” which is being presented on December 16th at Coffee Hour after the 10:30 service. The children have decorated boxes to present gifts at the manger.

As you are able, we invite you bring items for the Christmas Hampers with you to church this Sunday. During the pageant there will be an opportunity for you to put the items in the decorated boxes. Later they will be included in the King Edward Hampers. Items can also be brought to the church office during the week and placed in the labeled basket. The deadline for all donations is December 18th, so you can still bring items or monetary donations to the church next week on Monday and Tuesday, as well as this coming Sunday the 16th.

Current Needs:

Volunteers: Cathy Harvey is looking for a team of 10-12 volunteers to assist with assembling the hampers. This will take place at King Edward School on Wednesday, December 19th. Please meet at the church at 10:30AM to pack up cars with the items and take them to the school where the assembly will take place. If you can help with this, please contact the church office to sign up: church.office@holytrinity.ab.ca or 780.433.5530.

Monetary Donations: We are grateful to have received $975 so far for the Christmas Hamper project. Thank you!! We are aiming for a goal of approximately $1900. This allows us to purchase the Christmas Dinner food and other special items for the hampers. If you are able to contribute financially towards this project, any donations would be gratefully received. Offerings can be placed in the offering plate on Sunday, or brought to the church office. Please mark them “Christmas Hampers”.

Donate Items: Suggested items for donations include boxes of chocolates, practical toiletry items (toothbrushes, combs, toothpaste, etc.), fun toiletry items (bubble bath, lotion, hair accessories, etc.), cosmetics (i.e. nail polish, etc.), socks, mittens, hats, scarves, small games, books, art supplies (colouring books, craft kits, etc.).

Who are the families?
The names of the families who receive these hampers are known only to the staff of King Edward School & Academy who deliver them, as of course we wish to maintain their privacy. However, we can tell you that there are 16 families for a total of 70 individuals – 24 adults and 46 children.

Thank you to everyone who has already been so generous with their donations. We are truly blessed to be able to encourage families in our community this Christmas season.
