Pergolesi Brass Ensemble

The Pergolesi Brass is Edmonton’s premiere chamber Brass Ensemble, performing concert recitals and for special events for over two decades. Today’s concert features a wide chronological range of music for brass from the Byrd Mass for Four Voices to a tribute to our recently passed Edmonton treasure, composer Malcolm Forsyth, with his contribution to the brass quartet repertoire.

Two of Edmonton’s premiere chamber musicians team up to perform Chopin’s Grand Duo Concertante for piano and  cello by Chopin, based on themes from Meyerbeer’s opera  ‘Robert le Diable , ‘ Brahms’s sonata E minor, Op.38, and Sonata F major, Op. 99, as well as an arrangement of Liszt’s piano works for cello and piano, to celebrate his 200th anniversary of birth.
