Hope for Tomorrow
Saturday was a day of Board Meetings, University students and Reflections. The Board meeting was full of energy and excitement. We were enthused by our dreaming session, inspired by our reflection the night before led by Sister Ellen and were committed to the people of Haiti. To help them help themselves. In the meeting we talked not just of the present but of the future. What 5 years, and 10 years and even 100 years might bring. The core in at all was relationships and empowering the people of Haiti. Our ideal would be to see the relationship continue in a new form after the need for support vanishes and the people of Haiti become self-sufficient. It is the relationship that will endure.
A sign of this present and future was visible in the presence of 5 University students that we are currently sponsoring. They came and shared with the board their hopes and dreams. Brought us up to speed on their current studies and what they hoped for the future. In the process we learned about what was working well, what inspired them and what we could do differently to be of better support to them. Overall , these young people inspired us and gave us hope for the people and country of Haiti. In this group we could imagine a future board member of OTH, a future Executive Director and perhaps even a future president of Haiti.
We finished our session with pizza, pop and selfies!
