Lenten Sing, Supper & Study

Looking for something fun and enriching to do this Lent?  Well look no further because we have a spectacular opportunity for formation, fun and fellowship just for you.  And it gets even better!  There isn’t just one but two opportunities on different nights to fit your busy schedule.  And here they are:

Option 1 Tuesdays from February 28th until April 10th at Holy Trinity Anglican
6 PM Sung Holden Evening Prayer in the Chapel.
6:30 PM Lenten Soup & Salad Meal together
7-8:15 PM Lenten Discussions – Living the Questions 2

Option 2 Wednesdays from February 29th until April 11th at Trinity Lutheran
6-7 PM Lenten Discussions – Living the Questions 2
7-7:15 PM Lenten Evening Devotions

Each week the same topic will be offered on Tuesday and Wednesday night at both venues so if you can’t make Tuesday one week then go that Wednesday.  Mix and match or pick one venue and stay there or attend both, it’s up to you!

Holden Evening Prayer was written by Marty Haugen in 1985-1986 while Marty was the musician-in-residence at Holden Village, a Lutheran retreat center in Washington State, this lovely setting of vespers follows the traditional form while using contemporary and inclusive language.Contents include “Service of Light,” Evening Hymn-“Joyous Light of Heav’nly Glory,” “Evening Thanksgiving,” “The Annunciation,” “The Magnificat,” “Litany and Prayers,” and “Final Blessing.”

Living the Question 2:  People know that at its core, Christianity has something good to offer the human race.  At the same time, many have a sense that they are alone in being a “thinking” Christian and that “salvaging” Christianity is a hopeless task. What is needed is a safe environment where people have permission to ask the questions they’ve always wanted to ask but have been afraid to voice for fear of being thought a heretic.

Living the Questions 2 is a 7-week DVD and web-based small group study exploring beyond the traditions and rote theologies in which so many people and local churches seem to be stuck.  Ideal for Christian invitation, initiation and spiritual formation, Living the Questions will help seekers and “church alumni/ae” alike in discovering the significance of Christianity in the 21st Century and what a meaningful faith can look like in today’s world.
