Public Lecture Tonight: Creativity, Change, and Conflict in Congregations
Come join us this evening at 7:30 PM in the Lower Theatre Hall at Holy Trinity for a Free Public Lecture on Creativity, Change and Conflict in Congregations presented by the Rev. Dr. Bill Kondrath.
As a consultant of 25 years, I find myself asking if there would be less conflict in congregations, or at least more interesting conflict, if congregations saw themselves called to reflection the image of God as Creator.
The lecture invites you think of your congregation as a place where creativity abounds, a place that others in the community might turn if they were feeling stuck. A few dimension of change theory will be presented, as well as the notion of embracing resistance as a way of valuing feedback without stifling creativity.
The Rev. Dr. Bill Kondrath teaches leadership courses at Episcopal Divinity School in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and directs the field education (internship) program for the school. He is an Episcopal priest who has worked with over 100 Christian and Jewish congregations. He is also a consultant with VISIONS, Inc., a multicultural training and consulting group that works with corporations, non-profits, schools, and community organizations on issues of diversity and change. He is author of God’s Tapestry: Understanding and Celebrating Differences (Alban Institute, 2008) and numerous articles on change, collaborative leadership, and affective competency. Alban is also about to publish his new book Facing Feelings in Faith Communities and its accompanying applications Facing Feelings: Congregational Resources.
