Artist Statement
This exhibition for me was built up slowly, one special moment at a time during almost fifty months of fieldwork, thousands of kilometers trodden, and at least five pairs of boots. My deepest passion is sharing the amazing species I study with the public. Almost all of my subjects are threatened in some way, and the proceeds from many pieces will be donated partially or completely, as described below and on the next page.
One of the most important projects I’ve worked on is with Alberta’s endangered five needle pines, to which this exhibition is dedicated. The tablet mounted with the exhibition displays my article on these pines and another about my work in the Yukon, for people interested in more background on my subjects.
