Education for Ministry (EfM)

Education for Ministry (EfM)

This program which has operated in Canada since 1977 is offered as an extension course by the University of the South.  EfM aims to offer the education and training you will need to respond to your baptismal call to service in the Lord.  This program will also help you to define or discover how to respond to that call to Christian service.

The course includes individual study, group discussion and theological reflection in group. This process will enable you to develop your personal ministry in light of a growing understanding of scripture, the development and tradition of the Christian church and the changing theology of our Christ focussed faith.  The program operates in groups of 6 to 12 members and meets weekly over the course of a normal 9 month classroom year.  The whole course is four years long.

EfM is supported and organized by the Diocese and the Bishop strongly supports the program.  The program is open to all members of the Christian faith.  This is a certificate program with no degree or diploma outcome and no exams.  EfM is not a defined step to ordained ministry.

For a personal feeling about EfM you could talk to Ed Brownfield, Wayne Phare, Marlene Lee or Walter Scott at Holy Trinity.

The Diocesan Coordinator for the program is Rev. Stephen Hallford, Rector at St. Peter’s Anglican Church and at 780 455 3665.  He will welcome your call.
