THE STORY:Irma is a 19 year old Canadian Mennonite living in a colony in Mexico. Her family left Canada six years ago, under circumstances that were never made clear to her. Coming of age in Mexico, Irma falls in love with a Mexican boy, earning a cold shoulder from her own people. Irma’s husband leaves her, and soon she is utterly alone, until a rag-tag film crew hires her to translate for them and Irma, for the very first time, begins a relationship with something the rest of us take for granted.
